NATURE WALKS

Since 2001, OCCA has organized nature walks on local trails. This year's schedule is comprised of nine trails throughout Otsego County – including four state parks – several of which are featured in the OCCA publication "Otsego Walks & Paddles."

OCCA ANNUAL GARAGE SALE

The brainchild of former executive director Teresa Winchester, the garage sale began as a fundraiser but fits well with OCCA's mission. Items find a new home, staying out of the landfill, and reducing the purchase of brand new items – reuse is a mainstay of good environmental stewardship.

OCCA RENEWABLE ENERGY WORKSHOP

A workshop to help homeowners assess renewable energy options and evaluate the compatibility of these energy sources for their individual sites and lifestyles, with presentations given on solar, geothermal, and wind energy and masonry stoves and ovens, with additional information on related topics such as site assessment and how to fund the initial cost, including loan and grant opportunities.

OTSEGO LAKES FESTIVAL

This event offers a full slate of exhibitors and vendors to provide high quality education focusing on the water quality in our region. The festival offers all the features of an enjoyable occasion – music, art, children’s activities, good food and camaraderie – while providing valuable education about lake protection and regional water quality programs from those who work to protect these resources.  The Otsego Lakes Festival is organized under the umbrella of the Otsego County Water Quality Coordinating Committee.
