Water chestnut (Trapa natans) is an aquatic invasive species that interferes with fishing and boating, harms fish and wildlife habitat, and can hurt if you step on it! Join OCCA’s Invasive Species Response Team for an enjoyable—and productive—morning on the ‘stump lot’ at Goodyear Lake as we help control this nuisance plant. We’ll teach you what it looks like, how to remove it, and how to help prevent it from spreading to other places. We’ll also look for other aquatic invasive species while we’re there. Bring your own canoe or kayak, or rent one from Canoe & Kayak Rentals and Sales, just up the street. Bring water, sunscreen, and dress to get a little wet and maybe muddy. To register (it’s free!), visit our volunteer portal.
