Join OCCA for a spring nature walk at Emmons Pond Bog, one of Otsego County’s most unique natural areas. This homeschool-friendly program invites students and families to explore the bog trail at a time of seasonal transformation. As the landscape wakes from winter, we’ll look for early spring signs—including migrating birds, emerging amphibians, and the delicate blooms of spring ephemerals on the forest floor.
Along the trail, we’ll pause often to observe and ask questions about how plants and animals respond to the return of warmth and light. Participants will learn simple techniques for spotting and identifying early wildflowers, noticing patterns in plant growth, and exploring how bog ecosystems differ from surrounding forests.
